The southern gothic HBO miniseries based on Gillian Flynn’s novel of the same name saw Adams taking on one of her most demanding roles yet. Playing “Camille Preaker”, a journalist with a unique set of self-harm scars and a troubled past, many have considered Sharp Objects to be one of Adams’ most powerful performances. Her first notable television role also landed her Golden Globe and Emmy nominations!

The biographical political drama, which is Adams’ most recently released film, saw her star opposite Christian Bale and physically transform into “Lynne Cheney”, former president Dick Cheney’s wife. As a method of preparing for the role, Adams read the books written by the real Lynne Cheney. The film was positively reviewed by critics, and Adams was nominated for an Academy Award for it, marking her sixth Oscar nod to date!

Adams can recently be seen in the psychological thriller 'The Woman in the Window', released in 2021! Based on the novel of the same name by A.J. Finn, Adams plays the agoraphobic "Dr. Anna Fox", who engages in voyeurism as she spies on her new neighbours… and witnesses a shockingly violent act. Most recently, the 50-year-old actress starred in the 2022 film 'Disenchanted'. She has a few projects in the works so we’re excited to see what her career has in store for her!
