Bindi Irwin feels it's important for her future daughter to know about her family roots! During a recent interview with parenting website The Bump, the wildlife conservationist— who's expecting her first child with husband Chandler Powell— opened up about what she thinks Steve Irwin would have been like as a grandfather, and shared the names that her family will adopt once the baby arrives!

Bindi shares why she calls daughter "Baby Wildlife Warrior"

Bindi shared that she feels Steve would have been "the best grandfather," frequently going on outings with her little one. "I always joke that if he was still here we’d never see our baby because he’d take her on all kinds of adventures!" she said. "I want to make sure our baby girl gets to know my dad and thankfully we have many documentaries and photos we can share with her."

Bindi also mentioned that she and Chandler have been using a sweet nickname for their unborn daughter that was originally coined by Steve! "My dad was the first person to create the term 'Wildlife Warrior,'" she explained. "Being a Wildlife Warrior means to stand up and speak for those who cannot speak for themselves. We’ve been referring to our daughter as our Baby Wildlife Warrior."

Bindi reveals why she chose bunnies for nursery design

Bindi then said that she and Chandler have decided on what they want mom Terri to be known as when she becomes a grandma! "We decided that she’s going to be called 'Bunny,'" Bindi revealed, sharing that they wanted "a name that also had an animal link." She explained that her mom knew a neighbour called Bunny, who was "a grandmother figure to the entire neighborhood."

And as it turns out, the adorable name has even inspired the theme of Bindi and Chandler's nursery! "With my sweetheart mum being called 'Bunny' I had to include some woodland creatures in our nursery designs," Bindi explained. "Bunnies seemed like the perfect theme for our girl’s nursery."

Bindi says her brother has dubbed himself the "funcle"

Bindi also shared that Terri won't be the only one with a new title when the baby arrives, mentioning that her brother Robert has created his own! "Robert has decided that 'uncle' needed an upgrade and he’s now calling himself the 'funcle' which means fun uncle," she said. "I love it!"

Throughout Bindi's pregnancy, she and Chandler have been sharing updates on Instagram. She's shown her growing baby bump, and even gave a look at her ultrasound appointment. And last month, she shared a special photo that was inspired by a picture her parents took while Terri was pregnant with her!
