During his appearance on Thursday's episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Chris Evans opened up to Kimmel about his love for his dog, Dodger! Evans revealed he has no regrets about getting his pet's name permanently inked, and also shared how Dodger got his moniker. See what he said here!

Chris Evans talked about his love for his dog, Dodger, during a recent talk show appearance! As Entertainment Tonight shares, Evans was a guest on Thursday's episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and talked about the ink he got in honour of his furry friend— as well as the truth behind his name!

Evans shares why he'll "never regret" tattoo for Dodger

Evans mentioned the fact that he's had the name of his cherished pet tattooed across his chest for "a few years now," deciding to make his love for Dodger permanent "not long" after he got him! "That's probably one of the purest relationships I have so I'll never regret that tattoo," the Captain America star explained. "I've regretted a few in my life, but not that one."

As Entertainment Tonight shares, the actor has frequently shared photos on Instagram of himself and his dog since he joined the social media platform back in May, and joked about the possibility of Dodger getting a tattoo of his own name across his chest! "Oh, I already did it," Evans said to Kimmel. "He had no choice."

Evans reveals his dog's name is Disney-inspired

Evans was then asked by Kimmel if his dog's name came from the "Dodger Dogs" that are sold at Los Angeles' Dodger Stadium during baseball games. "No, I'm from Boston so it would be sacrilegious to name him after that," Evans— a self-declared Boston Red Sox fan— said. "It's a far more embarrassing story that I now get to explain every time someone asks me."

As it turns out, Dodger's name was actually inspired by an animated dog, not a hot dog! "There's a movie called Oliver & Company. It's a Disney movie, an animated movie that I grew up watching," Evans told Kimmel. "When I first saw him in the shelter, I said, 'Oh man, that looks like Dodger from Oliver & Company.'"

The actor said that once he adopted his beloved pet, the name ended up sticking in his mind. "After I decided I was taking him home with me, I went through the process of thinking of other names and I just couldn't get off Dodger," Evans explained. "So I just said, 'I'm not gonna over-think this one.'"

During his interview with Kimmel, Evans also talked about the political education project he's been working on, "A Starting Point." And he's not the only actor from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to focus on politics lately, as Ant-Man star Paul Rudd went and handed out cookies to voters in New York on Thursday!
