During her virtual interview with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live, actress Connie Britton is opening up about wanting to become a mother and how one trip made that happen for her!

Adopting her son back in 2011, Britton revealed that her dream of becoming a mother all came true when she met her son, Yoby.

Connie Britton opens up about adopting her son

During the interview, Andy Cohen asked Connie Britton a fan question, in which they wanted to know if there was a "particular light bulb moment" that made the actress choose to adopt her son.

"I had no idea what I was even getting into," she said, revealing that her decision to adopt wasn't always at the forefront of her mind.

"It wasn't so much 'I can do this' as much as I knew that I wanted to be a mom," she explained. "And, in truth, both of my parents had passed away within three years and suddenly like I was like, 'Oh no, my family is no more' — I mean, I have a twin sister — but that was a big loss, losing my parents."

Knowing that she wanted to be a mother, the next step seemed obvious for her.

"I wasn't in a relationship that felt like it was going to be a marriage relationship and so I was like, 'What am I waiting for?' I know I want to adopt, I can do this!'" she said.

Britton then revealed that it was actually a really hard process and that her son, Yoby, didn't come to her easily.

"But that was a little delusional, cause it turns out it's a really hard thing to do," she said. "But I would only encourage anybody to do it. You can do it!"

After a three-year-long adoption process, Yoby, 9 months at the time, was finally her son.

"I am thanking my lucky stars every day," she said to People back in 2011, after travelling to Ethiopia. "It was such a wonderful moment of completion."
