David Arquette has shared what it's like to co-parent with Courteney Cox! As Entertainment Tonight reports, Arquette opened up to Yahoo! Entertainment about how their daughter has helped strengthen their bond, even though the couple are separated.

Arquette says he and Cox have been "open and supportive"

Arquette said that his daughter with Cox— 16-year-old Coco— has helped them realize "We’re co-parents to our daughter who’s 16, so we have a really great relationship," he said. "We’re friends, and we’ve communicated a lot because of Coco." However, even though they've managed to communicate frequently, it doesn't mean the couple hasn't had their struggles.

"We’ve just had -- not an easy time with it,” Arquette admitted of co-parenting while being divorced. However, he and Cox have "been really open and supportive of each other. We never went head-to-head [or] battled each other through the process of divorce and through the process of raising our kid, so it’s made for a friendship and relationship that is out of respect."

Arquette also admitted that now that Coco is a teenager, parenting comes with a whole new set of challenges! "Our daughter’s really great. There’s difficult parts, especially through the teenage years,” he explained. "There’s a lot of emotions and feelings."

Arquette talks about working with Cox again for Scream 5

Arquette also talked to Entertainment Tonight about Scream 5, which will see him and Cox reprise their characters! As the outlet mentions, the two met on the set of the first Scream movie in 1996. They then got married in 1999, and separated in 2010— just over a decade later. "We always love working together," Arquette said of acting with Cox. "She's an incredible actress, so it'll be fun to bring these characters back to life and see where they're at."

When it comes to the storyline for Scream 5, Arquette has one request about what he hopes for Cox's "Gale Weathers" and his "Sheriff Dewey Riley". "I just want them to be true to the characters," Arquette shared. "Oh my gosh, [I] have grown the mustache out as we speak," he said, referring to his character's iconic look. "Hopefully, [filming] happens soon or I'm gonna have a big mustache."

Arquette recently opened up about his life-changing wrestling accident, and has a new documentary coming out on the subject! As for Cox, she's currently in a relationship with singer Johnny McDaid, and revealed that she hasn't seen him since quarantine started. She also recently shared a fun Instagram video of herself and Friends co-star— as well as real life bestie— Jennifer Aniston playing pool together!
