Kate Garraway, the peppy and sweet face of Good Morning Britain opened up to YOU magazine about her hospitalized husband's condition. On what would have been their 15th wedding anniversary, Kate is getting very candid about her husband's fragile state.

Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway Gives Heartwrenching Update

September 5th was the 15th anniversary of Kate Garraway and Derek Draper, and unfortunately, the duo was forced to celebrate it apart. Derek has been in an induced coma since he was first hospitalized due to COVID-19 back in March and has been fighting to survive and come back to consciousness.

Kate told YOU about her shock when she was first able to see Derek "When I finally got to FaceTime him, seeing him unconscious was a big shock. He's lost nearly eight stone in weight, a lot of it muscle throughout his body. He looked worn-out, thin and pale with dark circles under his eyes and there were lots of tubes." Kate was only recently able to visit him in person due to the restrictions resulting from the pandemic.

The mother of two expressed how little she gets to be with him in person "I see him quite infrequently, not as often as I'd wish." She had just taken a week off of hosting Good Morning Britain to help her son "Billy starts secondary school in September, but Derek's doctors say he won't be out of hospital by then. My priority is to make the children feel safe, not to let them see me feeling vulnerable in the world where Derek was my rock."

Luckily, the kind and thoughtful nurses have been playing her show every morning for Derek in his hospital room so she has been speaking directly to him from the GMB set.
