The world has now enjoyed four full decades of "Indiana Jones". In May of 1977, George Lucas was vacationing in Hawaii because he was expecting a bad reception for his film Star Wars. He invited his friend, director Steven Spielberg, to join him. Spielberg was looking to direct a "James Bond" film and Lucas pitched him a similar idea for a movie.
