Jamie Lynn Spears wants to clear the air about why she brings up Britney Spears in her book ahead of its upcoming release! On Thursday, Jamie Lynn posted a statement on Instagram shortly after her sister took to Twitter casting doubt on her intentions, explaining her decision to speak out now.

Jamie Lynn says Britney's claims "are absolutely not the truth"

Jamie Lynn's memoir Things I Should Have Said is set to be released on January 18, and she recently appeared on Nightline to promote the book. Britney tweeted about watching the interview on television while she was sick with a fever, saying she "just couldn't give a f**k" about it. However, she hit back at what Jamie Lynn said about her being "out of control," feeling like the comment was exploitative. "She was never around me much 15 years ago at that time... so why are they even talking about that unless she wants to sell a book at my expense?" the star questioned.

Britney's words prompted Jamie Lynn to make an Instagram post later the same day that saw her directly address her sister. "It's become exhausting when conversations, and texts we have in private, don't match what you post on social media," she said. While she did publicly extend her support to Britney, she also affirmed that her sister's words "are absolutely not the truth" and said that she could "put an end to all of" the unnecessary drama that's been created.

Jamie Lynn went on to explain that "after a lifetime of staying silent," she has chosen "to set the record straight myself" in the best interest of her family. Despite what Britney may believe about her motivations for the book, she clarified that her book isn't about her just because the two of them happen to be related. The star ended her post on a positive note, affirming her desire for both herself and her sister to move forward and "put an end to the unhealthy chaos that has controlled my life for so long."
