Fixer Upper star Chip Gaines celebrated his 46th birthday on Saturday, Nov. 14!

To mark the special occasion, Chip's wife, Joanna, penned a thoughtful message to her husband of 17 years. Here's what Joanna had to say to her longtime life and TV partner, with whom she shares five children.

Joanna Gaines's birthday tribute to husband Chip

In the birthday post, Joanna reflected on the meaning Chip brings to their family as a husband and father. She wrote: "You teach me and the kids to keep our eyes wide open and you remind us that so many wonderful things in life remain undiscovered if we aren't consciously looking for them.

"You teach us to discover paths that have yet to be taken, to see the good in all people, and to find the simple joys in the here and now.

"You really do make life extra great. Happy birthday," Joanna concluded, tagging birthday-boy Chip beside a heart emoji.

For the tribute, Joanna chose a selfie of the pair taking in nature, along with a shot of Chip peering out at the hills through a viewing machine.

The Gaineses are best known for starring on HGTV's Fixer Upper (2013-2018). They've since remained active with their Magnolia lifestyle brand and journal, which will also launch its own TV network in 2021.

In early August, Chip and Joanna confirmed that Fixer Upper will return with a new season on the Magnolia Network in 2021. The upcoming channel will replace DIY Network in the U.S.

Similar to the birthday message, Joanna earlier this year spoke to People about her and Chip's early days together, saying she was drawn to Chip's worldview of "untapped potential" and "plans and dreams."
