Kate Winslet is making sure people know she wants to do better! The Oscar-winning actress is opening up about her feelings of regret in regards to working with Woody Allen and Roman Polanski.

Despite both directors being known for and accused of sexual assault, Winslet has worked with them both in the past, and shares that she deeply regrets it.

Woody Allen and Roman Polanski have both been accused of sexual abuse, and despite the allegations, Kate Winslet still worked with them.

In her latest interview with Vanity Fair, Winslet reveals her regret and shares what made her change her perspective.

"Ammonite has made me really aware of being even more committed to honouring what women want to be saying for themselves in films and how we really want to be portrayed, regardless of sexual orientation," she said.

Ammonite, the film she mentions, is her latest role, in which she plays a love interest to fellow Oscar-winning actress Saoirse Ronan.

"Because life is f---g short and I’d like to do my best when it comes to setting a decent example to younger women. We’re handing them a pretty f----d up world, so I’d like to do my bit in having some proper integrity," she added.

Kate Winslet is disgusted by Allen and Polanski

Winslet goes on to further examine her past and the film industry, especially when it comes to how certain men in Hollywood have gotten away with many horrible acts against women.

"What the f---k was I doing working with Woody Allen and Roman Polanski?" she continued. "It’s unbelievable to me now how those men were held in such high regard, so widely in the film industry and for as long as they were."

Winslet added, "It’s f----g disgraceful. And I have to take responsibility for the fact that I worked with them both. I can’t turn back the clock. I’m grappling with those regrets but what do we have if we aren’t able to just be f-----g truthful about all of it."

The actress worked alongside Allen in her 2017 film, Wonder Wheel. When asked at the time by People how she felt about working with Allen given the controversy surrounding his allegations, Winslet responded, "Um. It’s just a difficult discussion. I’d rather respectfully not enter it today."

Allen was under fire from his daughter who has repeatedly accused him of molestation.

Winslet worked with Polanski in the 2011 film Carnage. Polanski was previously accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in 1977, to which he agreed to a plea deal at the time. Fearing a larger sentence, Polanski fled to France where he has been protected since 1978.

Winslet spoke previously on this issue again in 2018 at the London Critics’ Circle awards, in which she carefully addressed the #MeToo movement.

"I wouldn’t be able to stand here this evening, and keep to myself some bitter regrets that I have at poor decisions to work with individuals with whom I wish I had not," she said, before getting emotional and having to turn around for a moment to collect herself.

After a brief moment she continued, "It has become clear to me that by not saying anything, I might be adding to the anguish of many courageous women and men. Sexual abuse is a crime. While it rests with the rule of law to pass judgment, it lies with all of us to listen to the smallest of voices and to never stop listening."

Ammonite is set to come out on November 13, 2020.
