Kevin Bacon is putting his six degrees of separation to good use! The actor took to Instagram to start a new social media challenge that emphasizes the current importance of staying home during the coronavirus pandemic. Using the hashtag #IStayHomeFor, Bacon shared a video of himself talking about the challenge, as well as explained how it works in his caption.
"Hey everybody, it’s now so important to stay home and keep our distance from others if you are able. It’s one way we can help prevent the spread of #Coronavirus and save lives," Bacon wrote. "The more of us who can, make it safer for those who can’t. So if you’re home too like me, post a video or photo with a sign like mine, telling who you are staying home for and ask 6 friends to do the same. Post it with the hashtag #IStayHomeFor so I can see and share".
Bacon tagged his wife Kyra Sedgwick in the original challenge post as well as several celebrities, including Demi Lovato and David Beckham.
Lovato, Beckham, and more share who they stay home for
Lovato was one of the first to respond to Bacon's challenge. The singer posted a picture of herself holding up a sign where she'd written out the hashtag, as well as the reasons she's staying home. "There’s a lot of things going on in our world right now, but if there’s one thing that matters it’s spreading love," Lovato wrote in her caption. "#IStayHomeFor my parents, my neighbors, and my health".
Beckham also posted a photo with his own sign on Instagram after Bacon tagged him in the challenge, sharing that his wife and children are the reason he's choosing to stay home. "I’m staying at home for Victoria and our kids, including Cruzie who’s made his way into this photo," Beckham wrote, with a crying laughter emoji and arrow pointing to the just-visible head of his son Cruz.
Some of the other celebrities who have taken part in Bacon's #IStayHomeFor challenge include Millie Bobby Brown, Eva Longoria, and Elton John. See their posts here!
