When asked to guess if he was related to Spears, Faith Hill or Elvis Presley, Bass was hopeful it would be Spears, saying, "I really hope it's Britney, but there's no way," before finalizing his answer to Presley.

However, once looked into further, it was discovered that Bass is really a sixth cousin to the pop star, and Bass was elated!

"Are you kidding me? ... This is amazing. Oh my gosh!" he said.

Bass then went on to share the special relationship he shares with Spears and says that he always felt there was a deeper connection.

"That is so crazy though, 'cause, I mean, I feel like she's my little sister and this whole time she's been my little cousin," he said. "For some reason, I always felt like we looked like family, even when we were kids. I mean, this means so much to me. She is like family to me, so the fact that we are blood-related is amazing."

In 2019, Bass further shared his relationship with Spears on Andy Cohen's Watch What Happens Live, when he recalled a moment between the two in Las Vegas following Spears' 55-hour marriage to Jason Alexander.

"It was the night that she got married the first time in Vegas to Jason. So I went up to Vegas to kind of see the craziness that was happening. And she was a little upset once she realized what she had done because, you know, it was a funny thing," he told Cohen. "And then she started, like, really crying and, like, she was so upset."

He continued, "So I took her to her room and we were sitting on her bed and she wouldn't stop crying, so I was like, 'I'm gay.' And it made her stop crying."

Spears has yet to weigh in on the news, as she's currently in the midst of more court proceedings in regards to her conservatorship.
