NBA legend LeBron James on the importance of books

James released a statement on his new role as an author of children's literature.

"Books have the ability to teach, inspire, and bring people together," James said. "That’s why these books, and the opportunity to get children and parents reading together, mean so much to me. Most importantly, we wanted to make sure these stories are ones that every single kid can see themselves in. I PROMISE is powerful in that way and I can’t wait for people to read it."

LeBron James in the spotlight after Kobe Bryant's passing

LeBron also gracefully handled his team's recent memorial ceremony for the late Kobe Bryant. LeBron, a current LA Laker, was close to the former Lakers legend, making the situation especially difficult for him.

The 35-year-old James is also a popular and highly respected player in today's NBA. He is commonly referenced among the game's all-time greats, which include names such as Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant.

Congratulations to LeBron on his new endeavour as a children's book author. The role model for many young athletes should have plenty of wise words to offer!
