Leslie Odom Jr. is encouraging Americans to make their voices heard at the polls through a timely public service announcement! As People shares, the Hamilton star appears in a new video for RepresentUS that sees him performing his standout song from the musical, "Wait For It," explaining why the song's message is so relevant.

Odom Jr. says that all voters "deserve to be counted"

Odom Jr. played "Aaron Burr" in the original Broadway cast of Hamilton, and his video sees him stressing the importance of each and every ballot when it comes to this year's U.S. election. During his performance of "Wait For It," clips of everyday families and voters can be seen on-screen.

"Look, this is pretty clear: Every American who voted deserves to have their voice heard," the actor tells viewers in the special PSA. "In this historic election, millions of you have mailed in your ballots or dropped them off, and all of us deserve to be counted."

Odom Jr. mentions various groups getting their votes in

Odom Jr. then goes on to mention many of the different kinds of people who are voting across the country. "These are votes from our grandparents, staying safe from COVID. Our overseas military, sending in their ballots by mail," he explains. "Our neighbours, our friends. Nurses, teachers, firefighters."

"I mean, this is actually simple — voting is one of our fundamental rights and counting votes is the foundation of democracy," Odom Jr. continues. "It may take time but your vote is worth waiting for, and I’m willing to wait for it."

Back in July, Hamilton's creator and star, Lin-Manuel Miranda, talked about why the historical hip-hop musical is as relevant as ever due to the current sociopolitical climate of the world. And with the U.S. election happening on November 3, many celebrities have been encouraging people to exercise their democratic right to vote— including the cast of Friday Night Lights, who reunited for a special voting PSA!
