Melissa Joan Hart was born in 1976 and started her acting career at the age of four. But it was in 1991 at the age of 15 when she got her major breakthrough by being cast as the main role for Nickelodeon's series Clarissa Explains It All.

The show was so successful from 1991 to 1994 that Melissa got four consecutive Young Artist Award nominations, and won three. She was a real teen idol! After Clarissa Explains It All Melissa Joan Hart attended New York University but didn't complete her degree because she was cast for the 1996 TV movie Sabrina the Teenage Witch, which served as a pilot for the television series of the same name that made her even more famous.

Melissa Joan Hart played the role of "Sabrina Spellman", a young girl who on her sixteenth birthday unexpectedly discovers that she is a witch, and she lives with her two aunts "Hilda" and "Zelda" (Caroline Rhea and Beth Broderick, respectively) as well as with her cat "Salem".

Sabrina the Teenage Witch aired from 1996 to 2003 and since the show ended, Melissa Joan Hart has appeared in several films and television shows. In 2005 she directed her first movie called Mute, a 15-minute live-action short film about a deaf-mute girl who wants to sabotage her sister's wedding.

In 2007 she appeared in one episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit called "Impulsive." In 2009 she participated in season nine of Dancing With The Stars where she competed alongside Mark Ballas.

Joan Hart officially returned to television in a new weekly series called Melissa & Joey where she shared credits with Joey Lawrence. The show tells the story of "Melissa", a woman who hires "Joey" as a nanny; Melissa Joan Hart directed one episode of the series which ended in 2015.

In 2018 the actress was cast as "Liz" in Netflix's comedy show No Good Nick. In 2019 she worked as voice talent for the American animated series television The Loud House, as well as in the film Christmas Reservations! Most recently you can watch Melissa in the series The Casagrandes (2020-2022).
