Reports of critically acclaimed actor Miles Teller being punched began circling the internet over the weekend while he vacationed with his wife, Shailene Woodley, and Aaron Rodgers. The rumor mill kicked off and Miles himself had to address the assault.
Miles Teller Attacked In Hawaii
The Maui Police Department confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that the 34-year-old Whiplash star that "on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at about 7:30 p.m., police responded to a report of an assault that occurred at a West Maui restaurant involving a male victim and one responsible party. The incident is currently under investigation."
TMZ quickly reported that Miles was "punched in the face" at a restaurant in Maui over a financial dispute. TMZ falsely claimed that Milles was allegedly attacked by the gentleman who planned Miles'2019 wedding to Keleigh Sperry. TMZ stated the BAFTA-nominated Miles owed the planner $60,000 in unpaid dues.
Now both Miles and his wife are clearing up the rumors. Podcaster Pat McAfee tweeted a joke about the incident saying, "Miles Teller got punched in the face in Maui this morning. I don’t think it was as hard as that shot," alongside a wrestling clip. Miles himself replied to the Tweet saying, "I got jumped by two guys in a bathroom. Never met them before in my life but ya cool wrestling segue bud."
Pat responded with an apology and edited his original Tweet. Keleigh Teller posted on her Instagram story saying, "The story reported about Miles being punched in the face by @TMZ over 'money' is completely false. Miles was jumped by 2 men we have never met after they trapped him in a bathroom. It seems these same men have done this to many people and we appreciate your support Maui. This is now a criminal investigation."
The day before the assault it was announced that Miles would be replacing controversial actor Armie Hammer in the new series The Offer based on the making of The Godfather. Fans are congratulating Teller on the new role whilst hoping the attackers pay for their senseless attack.
