Miley Cyrus is opening up about her divorce from Liam Hemsworth! As Entertainment Tonight shares, Cyrus made a special appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast on Wednesday, where she talked about why she doesn't like how the split has played out in the media.

Cyrus says press's treatment of the situation has "sucked"

Cyrus talked about how her emotional maturity has developed over the past couple of years, sharing how she doesn't react as dramatically as she used to. "I feel that I worry sometimes that I can get over things easily," she said. "I don't fall to the floor and crawl up in a ball the way I used to, and I think that's a part of me growing up."

She went on to say she'd "just went through a very public divorce that f**king sucked," explaining that the press's treatment of her split from Hemsworth is what made it so awful. "What really sucked about it wasn't the fact that me and someone that I loved realized that we don't love each other the way that we used to anymore, that's OK," Cyrus said. "I can accept that. I can't accept the villainizing and all those stories [in the press]."

Cyrus says there's lots of time the public "didn't see"

Cyrus and Hemsworth had an on-again, off-again relationship for years! After splitting up in 2013, the pair got back together in 2016. They then dated for two years before becoming engaged in 2018, and Hemsworth filed for divorce in August of 2019.

Not long after it had been announced that Cyrus and Hemsworth had separated, Cyrus started dating The Hills' Kaitlynn Carter. However, she doesn't love how the media sensationalized things. "It's amazing to me that the public kind of thinks that there's no gap of time that they didn't see that could possibly be what lead to this," she said.

"Like, [they think] 'one day you were happy on the carpet and then next day you're making out with your friend in Italy. What the f**k?'" Cyrus continued. "Well there's a lot of time in between that you didn't see."

Cyrus talks about what she wants in a relationship

Cyrus also dated Australian singer Cody Simpson for almost a year. The pair ended things in August, and Cyrus recently talked about dealing with heartbreak. But when it comes to thinking about future relationships, Cyrus said she's looking for one specific thing. "I want the soul connection," she shared. "I think men in my life have told me that I'm cold, or I'm a f**king b**ch because I leave when things are done.

"I don't need a man or a woman that's going to take care of me," Cyrus continued. "I can take care of me 'cause I've got money, I've got all the things that I need to take care of myself. I need them to be able to take care of them." Watch the rest of Cyrus' podcast interview here!
