Miley Cyrus has proven yet again that she's one of the most loved pop stars in the world, hitting number one on the Billboard charts with her latest single, "Midnight Sun".

That doesn't mean, however, she's exempt from feeling the weight of a breakup and opens up about how she's dealing with heartbreak following her latest split from a fellow musician, Cody Simpson.

Miley deals with heartbreak

Miley Cyrus sits down to talk her breakup, and how she's doing amid all the success and stress following her breakup with Cody Simpson.

In the latest episode of Apple Music's Essential Radio, Cyrus opened up about coping with the fallout of her latest relationship, and how she's mourning from a logical standpoint.

Last summer, Cyrus split from her hubby Liam Hemsworth, before launching into a short-lived romance with The Hills: New Beginnings star, Kaitlynn Carter. Following the double split, Cyrus quickly fell in love with Simpson, the Australian-born singer.

10 months later, the two split and Cyrus is revealing that she's using logic to get her by.

"I'm a very logical person," she said. "And I really try to not get lost in emotion, because our emotion lies to us. Our emotion sometimes makes us believe that every thought that we think is real."

She added, "I remember at a time we're dealing with heartbreak it's like, 'I'm never going to be the same again.' You know? 'My life is—' all of these things I was telling myself; it's just not true."

The star went on to say that she often makes lists to organize her thoughts, and visualize what she's needing.

"I'm a visual thinker. I need to see it. And I need to look at it and evaluate it, and its value to me, and its addition or subtraction to my being, to my existence," she said.

"So when dealing with heartbreak, I look at what's being added, what's being subtracted, and I write down each on each side of the scale," she continued to explain.

"Then I measure from 1 to 10, 10 being the greatest, what they're contributing or not to my life. And then I look at those numbers: 'Okay, what's the higher number on the addition, and is it higher number on the subtraction to my life?'"

"And then I can make a logical decision based on numbers, and not based on every thought that I think because our brain totally does its own thing sometimes," she concluded.

Cyrus talks details of her relationship

Cyrus and Simpson split in July, and a source close to the couple revealed that she's just focused on making her music at the moment.

Following the release of her latest single, Cyrus said in an Instagram Live that she and Simpson are "individually working on" themselves. "For right now, two halves can't make a whole."

Cyrus also told fans not to be surprised if people see them out and about grabbing food, as they have been friends for close to a decade.

"Don't make it some drama story if next week we hang out and we're getting pizza," she said. "We've been friends for 10 years, and we're going to continue to be friends. Just don’t make it something that it is not."

Cyrus also talked about feeling "villainized" following her divorce from Hemsworth, saying that because she moved on to another relationship so quickly, people were quick to claim she was "disloyal."

Despite all of the heartbreak, Cyrus revealed she's thankful for what she's gone through, as it has helped shape her into a person she is in love with.

"I love who I am so much right now that if any of those things hadn't happened, I'm not sure that I would have been the same person."
