Some of the most sought after actresses are teaming up to create Los Angeles' first-ever all-female soccer team to join the National Women's Soccer League!

The women's team will be owned by Natalie Portman, Serena Williams, Lilly Singh, and Eva Longoria to name a few. This will mark a huge step forward in women's athletic history of the notorious city.

'Teaming' up for change

The franchise hopes to launch in 2022, and will be the first-ever all-female soccer team to hit the National League!

One of the main curators of the team, Natalie Portman, put out a statement in regards to the team.

"We wanted to make sure that we brought in incredible partners who were from the soccer world, who are leaders in sport, in tech and business and entertainment because that’s really so much what our city is about," she said. "Each of us has our special ability to bring to the team."

Portman also told People that she was inspired to create this team as she feels women's sport wasn't "getting the celebration it deserved."

She also revealed that only 4% of the sports media coverage focuses on female sports, something she hopes to change.

"To celebrate women at the same level as the way we celebrate male athletes is culture-shifting," she said.

The team has not yet revealed what their name will be.
