Niecy Nash recently surprised fans after she posted about a major relationship update! As People reports, Nash took to Instagram on Monday to share that she married Jessica Betts, which also marked her coming out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community!
Nash shares photo of her and Betts getting married
Nash made the reveal on social media by sharing a photo from her special day! In the picture, she's seen wearing a white wedding dress and veil while holding hands with Betts, who wears a white suit. "Mrs. Carol Denise Betts @jessicabettsmusic #LoveWins" Nash captioned the Instagram photo, including emojis of a wedding ring and rainbow.
Betts then posted the same picture on her Instagram page! "I got a whole Wife @niecynash1," she wrote, using alien and wedding ring emojis plus the hashtag "#Bettsofbothworlds". And like Nash, she also used the hashtag "#LoveWins"! Nash also shared one of Betts' songs, "Catch Me," on her Instagram story along with a brand-new photo of the couple. "#PlotTwist," she wrote next to a rainbow emoji, in reference to her coming out.
Nash's wedding comes a year after divorcing her husband
Nash filed for divorce from her husband Jay Tucker in December of 2019. As People shares, the documents Nash submitted say that she and Tucker officially separated on June 1, 2019— just three days after their eight-year wedding anniversary. Back in March, Nash talked to People about how she felt being single and why she decided to celebrate her 50th birthday with a nude photoshoot.
"I was coming up on my 50th trip around the sun, and I was like, 'We need to document this,'" she explained. "'I want to take some pictures and really cement this occasion.'" And according to Nash, she felt that the photo shoot was a great embodiment of where she "I have never been better in my life,” she said. "There is something about knowing exactly who you are and curating a life that brings you joy every day."
"I felt I was becoming for a while, and now the things that I was becoming, have manifest," Nash shared. "I’m out of the cocoon. I’ve got my wings." Nash isn't the only celebrity to come out by getting married lately!
