Hayley Williams has made a bold move that's certainly got people talking! Today, the Paramore frontwoman released her debut track "Simmer", the first song from her upcoming album Petals For Armor.

Marking the first time Williams has shared music with the world as a solo artist, the dark indie synths of "Simmer" are sonically different from Paramore's musical stylings, creating a unique vibe that establishes her as an artist in her own right.

Hayley going solo and the future of Paramore

Hayley may be venturing into making her own music right now, but that doesn't mean she's stepping away from Paramore for good! While the band's future plans may be uncertain, having been on hiatus since finishing touring their 2017 album After Laughter, Petals For Armor actually has a direct connection to Paramore.

That's because Williams co-wrote "Simmer" with bandmates Taylor York and Joey Howard! In a statement, Williams had this to say of her new musical project, which she calls a "scary, empowering experience":

"I made this with some of the closest people to me. Their respective talents really shine bright throughout the record. I like to think we all make each other better and the result is something that sounds and feels exactly as I’d hoped it would. Now that it’s time to put it all out there, I can finally exhale. I’m excited to let people in to experience a different side of myself that I’ve only very recently become familiar with.”
