Williams shared with DeGeneres that he feels there has been a constant divide with the American people and is hopeful that moving forward we will see more unity and middle ground.

DeGeneres asked the 11-time Grammy winner how he felt about the change in government, and what his hopes are for the future.

"I think it’s a very good thing for everybody to be on the same page," Wiliams said.

"There is no excuse for all of us Americans to be on the same page. We’ve pretty much lived in two different Americas since the inception of the concept that is America," he added.

"If you look at the way people voted, you pretty much see the country divided in that way. What gives me hope is because we can’t pretend that these things aren’t real," he continued.

Williams then encouraged those watching to push past their comfort zones, and work towards a future that works for everyone.

"If we want to move forward, I guess my hope is that people will reach beyond their comfort zones and ask questions and become more curious," he said. "Versus assume that because something is different or someone is different, that there is no thread, there is no potential synergy between you and that other spirit."
