Piers Morgan's wife Celia Walden wrote for the Telegraph explaining her terrifying ordeal on their last day of Holiday in France. The Good Morning Britain host and journalist awoke to find their room had been torn apart while the slept, with their belongings emptied just centimeters from their bed. Celia described in great detail exactly how she woke up to the horrifying nightmare.

Piers Morgan and Celia Walden Robbed While They Slept

In the Telegraph, Celia Walden, Piers Morgan's wife wrote about her family's last day on their France holiday. Piers and Celia had brought their daughter Elise and Piers' sons Spencer, Stanley, and Bertie for an intimate family vacation. When she woke up on the last morning of their trip she found that burglars had crept into their villa and bedroom and stole as much as they could from the couple, leaving her handbag and jewelry box emptied and upside down next to the bed.

Celia wrote "I knew the second I walked into the sitting room that something was wrong. It was 6.15 am on Thursday, and the last day of our holiday in the South of France. The previous night had been spent getting our rented house ready for 'check-out' - but the place was a mess." At first, she noticed "My handbag was upside-down on the sofa, the box I keep my jewelry in lying empty beside it. And there was something else. I was the first up, but the air felt different, as though something or someone fast-moving and violent had passed through it. It felt like a room that had only recently been vacated."

Piers Morgan and Celia Walden's Vacation Ends With Burglary

Apparently, Celia spooked the burglars when she awoke and they "heard the alarm I silenced with the snooze button (best decision of the year), and scarpered, leaving a trail of loose change, Tate and gym membership cards from my wallet in their wake. Which should have reassured me: these people were themselves scared of an altercation - even if that altercation was with a woman in Moomin-print sleep shorts."

"But then I remembered something that made me feel sick: the up-turned handbag found in the sitting room had originally been on a chair in our bedroom. They must have crept in there and stood inches away from us while we slept. I felt a stomach-plummeting sense of violation at the actions of these depraved and despicable inhuman beings."

The young 44-year old mother of little Elise Morgan found it hard to not be hurt by the stolen jewellery, saying "The jewellery part did sting. It still stings now, almost a week on. 'They're just things,' I keep telling myself, and they are just things, but they're also memories that have been trampled over." Celia had pieces that had great sentimental value to her for various reasons like anniversary gifts, trip memories, book advance rewards, and more stolen. "Every last piece I had with me was gone, none of it of great value, all of it irreplaceable."

Piers Morgan and Celia Walden are shaken up by this horrifying and violating ordeal. Hopefully, some justice will soon be found and the burglars will be held responsible.
