Travis Scott's hip-hop festival Astroworld proved to be a deadly event following Scott's encouragement for attendees to storm the gates causing rushed crowds and overpopulation on the festival grounds.

Throughout the festival, Scott's continued performance despite crowd pleas for help left eight people dead at the time of the event, three more deaths in hospital, and countless injuries. As a consequence of such a devastating event, Scott has stepped down as a performer for the Day N Vegas festival.

Post Malone Replaces Travis Scott At Las Vegas Festival Following AstroWorld Tragedy

The festival announced the change to their Twitter, stating that the safety of their attendees is their top priority.

"The security and safety of all attending Day N Vegas has been and is always top priority in our festival planning," they wrote. "We continue to work hand in hand with law enforcement, medical personnel and public safety agencies on our protocols for the weekend."

The statement continued, "Please take care of yourself and each other. Look forward to seeing you in a few days."

This Tuesday, the festival announced that the 10:45 pm time slot that was meant for Scott will now feature the Grammy Award winner Post Malone.

Before the official announcement, Scott did address the tragedies that happened at his event on his Instagram story, saying that he felt "devastated" to hear the news.

"I could never imagine anything like this happening," he said. "I'm going to do everything I can to keep you guys updated and keep you guys informed of what's going on. Love you all."

Kylie Jenner, who was also in attendance of Astroworld with their daughter Stormi, also wrote to her Instagram to say her thoughts and prayers are with the victims and family members navigating their loss.

She reiterated that "in no way" would Scott have continued performing if he knew lives were being lost, and that he didn't know how bad the crowd was getting.

Scott continued in his Instagram story, "I just want to send out prayers to the ones that was [sic] lost last night. We're actually working right now to identify the families to assist them through this tough time. My fans really mean the world to me, and I always want to leave them with a positive experience."

Houston PD is continuing their investigation to learn the details of exactly what happened. Scott already has one lawsuit pending for the event, according to TMZ, after a 9-year-old boy was nearly trampled to death.

This isn't the first time Scott has encouraged out-of-control behaviour at a show. Detailed in his Netflix documentary in 2018, he was immediately arrested following a show after encouraging a crowd surge that bypassed security resulting in one fan breaking a leg.

More details of Scott's role and consequences are sure to come as the investigation continues.
