Ricky Gervais had a... colourful... way of announcing that he got the coronavirus vaccine. On Thursday, the comedian and actor posted on social media a picture of himself getting vaccinated with the first dose.

Ricky Gervais gets COVID-19 vaccine — with a joke

Gervais, 59, is seen grimacing or perhaps having a laugh beneath his mask while getting the "jab" from a masked professional. He captioned the picture: "Take that, you COVID Cunt!"

Some fans responded with a laugh in the comment section, while others expressed surprise that the sometimes skeptical comedian would get the vaccine. "I would have thought he was against it to be honest LOL," reads one of the top comments.

But Gervais is among the many stars opening up about their vaccine experiences and, in doing so, promoting it to the public. In the UK, the Royal Family has been especially vocal about getting vaccinated, though Queen Elizabeth II, for example, was a little less explicit than Gervais when she shared the news that she got the jab.

Gervais also recently spoke on life in quarantine and, last year, even criticized other stars who were complaining about lockdown from their "mansions."
