KJ sets the record straight

Riverdale hottie KJ Apa has fired back at anyone who questions where he stands during the Black Lives Matter movements that have gripped the world.

Earlier this month, a fan suggested rapper and comedian Elijah Daniel should watch the 2018 film The Hate U Give, which features a young Black woman, "Starr," who watches her childhood friend get fatally shot by the police. Apa is also featured in the film as "Starr's" boyfriend, "Chris".

The comedian, who previously had friction with Apa, wrote back, "I love that movie but I do have a question, completely unrelated to the beef I formerly had with him, if KJ was the co-star of that movie why is he so silent? He has such a massive young audience and got paid to be in a movie about police brutality and... posted a black square."

Apa took part on the June 1st #BlackOutTuesday and posted a black square to his Instagram page.

The actor responded to Daniel saying, "I don't need to post about my opinions and beliefs in order for them to be real to me."

He added, "I support black lives — but I don't feel it's necessary to prove to people I do by posting my attendance at these protests."

Although Daniel has yet to respond to Apa, his Riverdale costars Cole Sprouse, Lili Reinhart, Camilla Mendes, and Madelaine Petsch have all attended protests, which has caused fans to pose the question, "What is KJ doing?"

Apa has not responded further to any other questions but did post a video of the late Tupac Shakur speaking at the 1993 Indiana Black Expo.
