He added that he's sharing the news on social media because "there are people all over the world who's heart he touched and who's ribs he tickled with his sparkly eyes and his cheeky attitude to everyone, and everything." John Alexander Crowe was a caterer for film sets with his wife Jocelyn, who survives her longtime husband.

Russell concluded his Twitter message with a set of final details on his father, who lived from 13 March 1936 to 30 March 2021. He wrote: "Born in Christchurch, New Zealand. Passed away in Coffs Harbour, NSW, his home for the last 25 years. Rest In Peace."

John Alexander Crowe is survived by his two sons Russell and Terry as well as his wife Jocelyn Yvonne (née Wemyss). The couple had Russell while living in New Zealand in the 1960s, but the Crowes soon after moved to Australia, where John Alexander has now passed away.
