"Green . . . What?"
Ryan Reynolds and Taika Waititi have made major waves in the film industry with Reynolds being the much loved vigilante "Deadpool," and Waititi winning Academy Awards for Jojo Rabbit.
However, the two may not be so quick to admit they have also made their fair share of mistakes when it comes to movies as well, and the pair joked they don't remember the critically panned Green Lantern.
Coming out in 2011, Green Lantern only received a 26% on Rotten Tomatoes. Waititi and Reynolds are joining forces again in a new film Free Guy, but they aren't interested in walking down memory lane.
In an interview for Total Film magazine, Waititi said, "What’s the project you’re talking about? I’ve never heard of it. Green...what?"
Later on in the interview, Reynolds joked that "I've never met him," when asked about working with Waititi.
Though the two were just joking around, Waititi explains that he doesn't mind laughing at himself saying, "That type of thing is great, because Ryan and I have both got a similar sense of humour in regards to things like that."
He continued, "I find it really funny that I did that film. The thing is, it’s like when people shy away from things, and they don’t want to admit they’ve done something, or they don’t ever reference it, I find it worse."
He then went on to explain why he's so candid about admitting failed work saying, "When you can make fun of yourself, then everybody else understands: ‘Oh, we’re all in on the joke’. Because if you pretend it never happened, then it makes it kind of weird and uncomfortable for everyone."
Reynolds has recently joked about the film on Twitter when one fan Tweeted, "Green Lantern is available to rent for $0.99 on Apple TV, it’s been 9 years... should I do it @VancityReynolds ?"
"Walk away," Reynolds Tweeted back.
Free Guy is set to be released in theatres Dec. 11
