Steve Buscemi plays a firefighter on a number of his shows but did you know before entering the world of show biz he was actually saving lives as a firefighter? In addition to being well known for his films Con Air (1997), The Big Lebowski (1998), and Ghost World (2001), Steve Buscemi is also a hero off-screen as a past firefighter!

Steve Buscemi worked as a New York City firefighter in Manhattan’s Little Italy from 1980 to 1984. While working his day job, Buscemi would take his first stab at acting and, in 1984, would leave his station to begin working on his debut film The Way It Is.

Over the years Steve Buscemi has risen to fame for his roles on series like The Sopranos and Fargo as well as his voice work for films like Monsters, Inc. and Charlotte’s Web but he hasn’t put his firefighting past behind him completely. Watch the video above for more information!
