Born on June 27th, 1997, Shannon Purser was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. Like many children or teen stars in the business, her parents were not associated with the entertainment industry at all - in fact, her father is a pilot, and her mother, a flight attendant!
Stranger Things: Shannon Purser's Rise To Fame
Before her fame in Stranger Things, Shannon actually worked at a movie theater in Roswell, Georgia! Then, during her senior year of high school, she began shooting for the famed sci-fi series. She told Jimmy Kimmel that "she didn't quit her movie job even after Stranger Things came out."
It wasn't until she ended up getting a talent manager out in Los Angeles that she realized she had a future in acting! So, she naturally ended up quitting her job at the movie theater and began to star in other Netflix shows and movies!
While she only starred in the first season of Stranger Things, Shannon was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series! Not bad for her first acting job.
Since then, she has starred in the horror film Wish Upon (2017), the Netflix series Riverdale, as well as the Netflix movie Sierra Burgess Is a Loser (2018). Additionally, she also starred in the NBC series Rise and is currently doing voice work in the TBS series Final Space!
As of 2017, Shannon has been attending Kennesaw State University in Georgia. We're excited about Shannon's future and can't wait to see what she'll star in next!
