Through The Years With The Iconic Meryl Streep
Overrated or not, no one can deny that Meryl Streep has had a successful career that started in the late 70s. Let's look back on it.
In the late 1970s, Meryl Streep preferred acting on the stage to performing in television or feature films. It was the performance of Robert De Niro in Taxi Driver that changed her mind. Later, De Niro helped Streep get cast in The Deer Hunter and this led to Streep receiving her first Oscar nomination. The two actors would again reunite on Falling in Love.
Did you know that after winning her first Oscar that Meryl Streep forgot her statuette in the ladies' room? That win was for Kramer vs. Kramer. During the production and release of that film, Streep had to deal with criticism from multiple sources, including feminists, as she fought to have her character in that movie portrayed more realistically. Her perseverance paid off. Today, Meryl Streep is arguably the most talented living actress. To see why, you can watch the video above.
