Tyler Oakley has decided to call his YouTube channel quits— at least, for the time being. As Entertainment Tonight shares, Oakley uploaded a video called "See Ya Later" on Tuesday, where he explained what led to his decision to step away from the video sharing platform.

Oakley talks about the longevity of his YouTube career

Oakley started off by saying how 2020 didn't go the way he anticipated because of the coronavirus pandemic. "Everything has been canceled, every fun thing that I had planned has been canceled," Oakley said, "all the video projects that I thought we were going to do have been canceled." While he also touched on some memorable things he did in the year, he then explained why he feels the need to leave YouTube for the time being.

"I have been making videos and uploading them every single Tuesday at noon for years and years and years and years and years," Oakley said. "If you have been watching since I have been in college -- I was 18 when I started and I am now 31 -- so, you can go back and find any single week of my life between those two dates and see what I was up to. I've never really taken a break and it is now time for me to take a break."

Oakley says that he could come back

Oakley went on to share that he doesn't see his YouTube break as a permanent thing by any means. "I do not have an end in sight for when I will be back," he said. "I'm gonna be focusing on some other stuff that I'm actually really excited about and I'm really ready to develop out and make into some fun, new, little things."

"I will be back at some point, but I'm not gonna say when because I don't know when and it might take me a second," the internet star continued. He also reinforced the fact that he "has loved making stuff on this channel for years and years and years," and his YouTube channel will "keep going as long as I still love it."

As Entertainment Tonight mentions, one of the projects Oakley is currently working on is his podcast, Psychobabble. So even though fans might not be seeing the YouTube star for a while, they'll certainly be hearing a lot more from him!
