Today's Jeopardy! episode comes with a special message from late host Alex Trebek.

The show is continuing to air episodes he filmed prior to his death on Nov. 8, and, to mark Thanksgiving, the host recorded a powerful speech on hope and perseverance, released today by Jeopardy!.

Jeopardy!: Alex Trebek's posthumous Thanksgiving message

In the 20-second clip, a brave Trebek speaks on faith and remaining thankful amid a difficult year for many. "Happy Thanksgiving, ladies and gentleman," he begins, his voice affected by emotion. "You know, in spite of what America and the rest of the world is experiencing right now, there are many reasons to be thankful."

Trebek continues, "There are more and more people extending helpful hands to do kindness to their neighbours — and that's a good thing. Keep the faith. We're going to get through all this and we will be a better society because of it."

Alex Trebek (1940-2020)

Trebek continued to film Jeopardy! episodes in the final stages of his life, before he succumbed to a battle with stage-IV pancreatic cancer on Nov. 8. He passed on nearly two years after being diagnosed with the disease.

Trebek-hosted episodes will continue to air for the next four weeks, with the final one showing on Christmas Day. In the meantime, Jeopardy! legend Ken Jennings has been announced as an interim host on episodes thereafter.
