It all came about thanks to billionaire Jeff Bezos and his space exploration project Blue Origin. This is the second time one of its shuttles takes off for space but this time it had an iconic guest aboard that is a little more familiar with exploring space than most: the one and only William Shatner.

The mission was originally scheduled a day earlier but poor weather delayed proceedings. But the next day, he and three others launched from a West Texas launch site at 11 am ET. A few minutes later the craft returned safely to Earth where Shatner was said to be stunned.

"Captain Kirk" Actor William Shatner Went To Space!

"Captain Kirk" himself came aboard the craft and headed to a new frontier in his space, but this time it was for real! "I'm going up into space. I don't know how many people can say that," Shatner said in a pre-recorded video played prior to the launch.

"There's a great deal of curiosity about this fictional character Captain Kirk going into space, so let's go along with it and enjoy the ride", said the iconic Star Trek actor. In an age where billionaires are going to the stars, it's nice to see a familiar face along for the ride!
