Meat Loaf, singer, not to be confused with the very delicious meal, had been performing on stage since the mid-1960s. Born on September 27, 1947, as Marvin Lee Aday, he actually began his entertainment industry interests in acting, where he'd performed at his high school in Texas. He would eventually change his first name to Michael in 1984.

Meat Loaf Singer: This is Michael Lee Aday's Career

So where did Aday's stage name even derive from? He was nicknamed Meat Loaf by his football coach in high school due to his weight. His first band, Meat Loaf Soul, had their first gig in 1968 in Huntington Beach, California, and eventually played all around the Golden State.

However, even after having a successful start, Aday shifted his career into acting again, in which he performed in the musical Hair.

After gaining recognition with Hair, Meat Loaf was also asked to perform in the popular musical The Rocky Horror Picture Show! Of course, he said yes, and even portrayed the role of "Eddie" in the adapted film version. Meanwhile, he and his band were also releasing new material. Many of his albums went Platinum and/or Gold, including:

  • Bat Out of Hell (1977)
  • Dead Ringer (1982)
  • Bad Attitude (1984)
  • Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell (1993)
  • Welcome to the Neighbourhood (1995)
  • Bat Out of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose (2006)

He'd also had major singles like "I'd Do Anything For Love", which earned him a Grammy Award for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance!

Also Interesting:

Although he had a tour set in 2017, it was unfortunately cancelled. Yet, he was able to shock fans the same year with a spontaneous concert in Toronto, Canada. Acting-wise, Aday was part of SyFy network's Ghost Wars cast, again in 2017.

Since the start of his frontman career, Meat Loaf, solo singer, had sold over 80 million copies worldwide! To this day, he is one of the best-selling musicians of all time.

Unfortunately, Meat Loaf passed away suddenly on January 20, 2022, in Nashville Tennessee. He was 74 years old. Rest in peace to a phenomenal musician!
