Phoebe Bridgers had a terse response for musician David Crosby after he dissed her guitar smashing on the latest Saturday Night Live episode. The Crosby, Stills & Nash rocker called Bridgers's actions "pathetic" on Twitter, prompting her to react with a similarly harsh response to Crosby. See it below.

It's a cross-generational music feud: Phoebe Bridgers and David Crosby are in a war of words on Twitter following Bridgers's recent performance on Saturday Night Live.

Bridgers, the 26-year-old indie musician, played SNL this past week, concluding her performance with an attempt at destroying her guitar. The move attracted a range of reactions on social media, including one from David Crosby, the 79-year-old rocker best known from Crosby, Stills & Nash.

Asked what he thought of Bridgers smashing her guitar, Crosby responded on Twitter with one word: "Pathetic." Now, Bridgers has taken notice of Crosby's judgement, replying with a similarly brief and harsh message of her own: "Little bitch," she wrote — in a tweet that earned many more likes than Crosby's, for what it's worth.

Replies to Crosby's tweet accused him of sexism in singling out Bridgers, but he responded, explaining his history of disliking the destructive act. "I didn't like it when men did it either," Crosby clarified. "Guitars are for playing ..making music .....not stupidly bashing them on a fake monitor for childish stage drama .....I really do NOT give a flying F if others have done it before It's still STUPID," he added in another tweet.

Phoebe Bridgers's SNL guitar smash draws mixed reviews

On the Feb. 6 episode of SNL, Bridgers played "Kyoto" and "I Know the End," tracks from her 2020 album Punisher. Following her second performance, she tried several times to break her guitar over a stage monitor before tossing it to the ground.

The act drew mixed reviews online, prompting conversation on the history and purpose of instrument destruction, while others vented about hatred of it. But Bridgers also clarified that SNL provided her with a fake stage monitor specifically for the performance.
