Prince William and Duchess Kate have canceled all engagements ahead of Christmas. This has been reported by British media such as the Mirror.

Other royals, Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla included, are determined to spend Christmas with Queen Elizabeth, and they don't want to take any risks before then as the Omicron variant ravages the UK.

Royal Family cancel appointments for the Queen

As the Mirror reports, the royals are limiting themselves to prevent possible infections in the week before the holidays. They want to be by the side of the Queen, who already had to cancel the family's Christmas luncheon this year.

According to the British press, it is not yet certain if the Royal Family's Christmas celebration will happen at all. Experts and palace aides will make the final decision.

Insiders also report that the 2021 celebration will occur in a small group in Windsor, rather than the usual busy party at Sandringham.

So it will be a very different Christmas for the Queen this year. It's also her first holiday season since the death of her husband Prince Philip, so royal fans are hoping she'll be in the company of family next week.

Queen Elizabeth II is "very sad" that Archie won't be coming to the UK.
