It is not the first time that The Duchess of Cambridge has dazzled in the late Princess Diana's tiara. However, at a lavish reception held at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday night, she was absolutely sparkling. In a stunning embellished off-white gown by Jenny Packham, her favourite pair of pearl earrings and completing the look with the Royal Order, The Duchess of Cambridge and mother of three, dressed to dazzle.

Paying Tribute to her Mother-in-law

The Cambridge Lover's Knot tiara has become a clear favourite for Kate as it pays tribute to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana. According to the Daily Mail, the stunning "tiara was made by Royal jewellers Garrard in 1914 to Queen Mary's personal design, from pearls and diamonds already in her family's possession." In her will, Queen Mary left the tiara to the Queen who then gave it as a wedding gift to Princess Diana in 1981. Since her death, the beautiful tiara has been worn by the Duchess of Cambridge.

The Royal Order worn by Kate depicts a miniature portrait of the Queen as a young woman painted on glass. It is pinned on a yellow ribbon and is to be worn on the left shoulder with dignity and pride. The honour was bestowed by Her Majesty herself and is to be worn to white tie occasions such as the Diplomatic Reception. October marked the first time that Kate was seen wearing the Royal Family Order of Queen Elizabeth II at the state banquet in honour of the Dutch Royals.

The annual Diplomatic Reception held at Buckingham Palace welcomed more than one thousand guests from 130 different countries. Ambassadors and high commissioners posted in the UK, were greeted by the Queen, The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge all in high spirits at the lavish event.
