Duchess Catherine paid a surprise visit to university students on Tuesday morning to find out how the pandemic has impacted their lives on campus. The Duchess of Cambridge traveled to Derby University and spoke with first-year students, nursing students and those in sports societies, trying to find out in which way COVID-19 has influenced their mental health.

Duchess Kate: Surprise visit to Derby University

Her visit to the University in the English Midlands, which comes just days ahead of World Mental Health Day, saw the Duchess learning about the university's initiatives like peer mentoring and how nursing students are "buddied" up with fellow students in their year.

The buddy system is supposed to provide support for the nursing students during clinical placements, which can be quite challenging. Duchess Catherine also heard about how Derby University has provided training to the different sport societies to make sure that the students are able to support their teammates when it comes to mental health issues.

The Duchess looked amazing on Tuesday, sporting a gorgeous Amaia floral mask and a oversized patterned jacket over a blue sweater. She also wore a new gold necklace from All The Falling Stars with the initials of Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
