Duchess Kate was recently given a brand-new role during her latest royal engagement! As Hello! shares, Kate stepped out on Tuesday to pay a visit to the 12th Northolt Scout Group in West London, which came as the Duchess of Cambridge was named co-president of The Scout Association!

Duchess Kate says she's "delighted" to be co-president

Duchess Kate spoke about why her new role as co-president— a position she now shares with Edward, Duke of Kent— is meaningful to her! "For many children and young people," she began, "The Scout Association plays a key role as they build relationships and develop the skills they need to succeed in later life."

"When I volunteered with the Scouts on Anglesey eight years ago, I was struck by the huge impact the organisation has on inspiring young people to support their communities and achieve their goals," Kate continued. "I am delighted to be joining the Duke of Kent as joint president of the Association and look forward to working with Scouts across the country as they strive to make a positive difference to our society."

Duchess Kate welcomed aboard by Edward, Duke of Kent

Duchess Kate received a warm welcome to the organization by Edward, Duke of Kent, who has been with the organization for some time! "As The Scout Association's President since 1975, it has been my privilege to watch as they evolve with the times, while honouring their proud history," Edward said.

"The Scouts' ethos of dedication, inclusivity, and lending a helping hand wherever one is needed resonates across the generations, and as such I am delighted to welcome the Duchess of Cambridge as Joint President, and to work together to continue that legacy."

Kate took part in fun outdoor activities with scout troops

Duchess Kate's visit saw her partaking in a variety of activities with the Cub and Beaver Scout Troops! Hello! mentions that the Duchess of Cambridge enjoyed doing everything from roasting marshmallows to making cards for a local care home with the young Scouts.

"That's a really lovely idea," she said of the initiative to make cards for residents of the home during quarantine. "It has been hard as no one can see each other. But these are really special. Well done you."  Duchess Kate was also awarded a special honour as she spent time with the Scout Troops— the Silver Wolf Award!

As Hello! shares, this award is the highest honour that can be bestowed by The Scout Association, which makes Kate receiving it as the newly minted co-president quite a special gesture! "I will wear it with pride," Kate said.
