Prince Charles will follow in the footsteps of his daughter-in-law, Meghan Markle, as he steps away from his royal activities to focus on acting— at least for one night! This week, the Prince of Wales announced on social media that he and his wife, Camila Parker, will participate in a dramatized reading of the classic Christmas poem "Twas the Night Before Christmas".

Prince Charles' acting debut comes in support of charity

Prince Charles made a post on his Instagram account to share that he'll be reading "Twas the Night Before Christmas" in a special video, which will be released tonight! As People shares, the reading is being staged to help raise money for the UK Actors Charity Fund, also known as the ABF.

The ABF is encouraging donations as it seeks to help those affected by the closure of cinemas, theatres, and entertainment venues due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Tom Hardy, Maggie Smith, Judi Dench, Daniel Craig, Ncuti Gatwa, and Joanna Lumley will also be participating in the reading.

Prince Charles suggested involving stars for the reading

Prince Charles himself is said to have had the idea of bringing together a group of highly relevant actors in a video to help raise money for the ABF, which he is patron of.

Some of the performances of the reading were recorded inside Clarence House— which is owned by the prince in London— in recent weeks, following all possible health security protocols. Prince Charles' debut in acting will premiere tonight, shortly before Christmas!
