Although many believe it was Meghan Markle who influenced Prince Harry's affinity for the United States and its political system, Prince Harry has had strong links with the White House for years now. The Duke of Sussex's longtime friendship with the now President-Elect Joe Biden has come to light.
Prince Harry's Friendship With Joe Biden
It is clear now that the official channels will not be the only conduit that will unite the White House and the Royal family. According to Hello!, Prince Harry has had a great relationship with President-Elect Joe Biden since their first contact during Harry's tour of the US in 2013.
The Duke met Dr. Jill Biden, President-Elect Joe Biden's wife, first met when he attended a reception for British and US wounded warriors. Joe and Jill were Vice President and second lady respectively under President Obama's administration at the time.
In fact, one of the great initiatives of Prince Harry's Royal ventures - the Invictus Games - was motivated after this first encounter that the prince had with the Biden family. It was during this visit to the Warrior Games in Colorado that the Duke credits with inspiring him to create Invictus Games, the international competition for wounded, injured, and sick servicemen and women.
Jill Biden went to London to support the US team at Harry's first Invictus Games in 2014 and Prince Harry and the Obama's had a very competitive twitter exchange the same year. The three were hilariously egging each other on about their respective teams winning at the next Invictus Games.

Then Prince Harry sat with the Bidens during the Orlando Invictus wheelchair basketball event where Joe joked, "Jill went to London for the last Games. She spent too much damn time with Prince Harry!" Harry continued to sit with the Bidens during the following Invictus Games in Toronto, where he also debuted his relationship with Meghan Markle!
While the Prince did not explicitly endorse any political party, in particular, he and his wife both encouraged American's to vote. Harry was unable to vote in the 2020 election but his wife Meghan did.
It is expected that he will meet with the President-Elect soon, marking another step in the long-lasting friendship.
