On May 2nd, the "Vax Live Concert" was recorded, at which numerous stars were represented - including Prince Harry (36). The Duke of Sussex played a very special role: he was the main speaker at the event, which, among other things, promoted the fair distribution of the COVID-19 vaccines.

He gave his passionate speech alone - without Duchess Meghan (39). It was actually thought that the Duchess would also take part in the recording.

Prince Harry's first public appointment since Philips' funeral

For Prince Harry, his appearance at the "Vax Live Concert”"was the first public appearance since his grandfather's funeral, whom he remembered with a special campaign. According to People magazine, the 36-year-old gave a passionate speech in front of the audience, which consisted mostly of vaccinated health care workers.

"We are at a defining moment in the global fight against COVID-19. Tonight is a celebration of each of you here, the vaccinated frontline workers in the audience and the millions of frontline heroes around the world. You spent the last year battling courageously and selflessly to protect us all. You served and sacrificed, put yourselves in harm's way and with bravery knowing the costs. We owe you an incredible depth of gratitude, thank you," said Prince Harry, who had an important appointment after Philips' funeral in the UK before flying back to the United States.

Prince Harry makes clear demands

Prince Harry also made clear demands in his speech: "But we're also coming together because this pandemic cannot end unless we act collectively with an unprecedented commitment to our shared humanity. The vaccine must be distributed to everyone everywhere. We cannot rest or truly recover until there is fair distribution to every corner of the world. The mission in front of us is one we cannot afford to fail out and that's what tonight is about. The virus does not respect borders and access to the vaccine cannot be determined by geography. It must be accepted as a basic right for all and that is our starting point."

Harry and Meghan are the presidents of the VAX Live campaign. "VAX LIVE surpasses campaign goal with more than 10 million COVID-19 vaccine doses pledged," according to a statement by Global Citizen. The concert including Prince Harry as a speaker will be broadcast on May 8th. Learn more about his passionate speech below...
