It's getting to be that time of year, even if Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan are living in sunny California.

This week, the couple was spotted buying a Christmas tree, as People reported. And while at the tree barn, there was a sweet mix-up between a little boy and Prince Harry, because apparently the youngster had no idea who was standing in front of him.

Prince Harry mistaken for Christmas tree lot employee

An employee of the Christmas tree barn first reported on Twitter about Harry and Meghan's shopping trip: "Meghan and Prince Harry came into my work today and we sold them their Christmas Tree," the worker wrote. But it didn't stop there, as Prince Harry was involved in an amusing incident.

The worker continued, "We had our lot empty when they got there - their agent promoted them a good time to come instead of us shutting it down. There was one family in there and their stoked little son ran through trees up to Harry and asked if he worked here not knowing who that is." The little boy actually mistook the Duke of Sussex for a barn employee.

Harry and Meghan news: 1st Christmas plans in Santa Barbara

For Harry and Meghan, who had gone to buy a Christmas tree with their 1-year-old son Archie, this meeting was certainly out of the norm—but perhaps a welcome change. Normally, they're more likely to be besieged by paparazzi, reporters, and fans.

This year, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan will for the first time spend Christmas in their new home in Santa Barbara, California, together with Meghan's mother Doria Ragland—who also joined them for Thanksgiving late last month. Christmas shopping was probably another welcome change for Harry, as he is currently mourning his the loss of his godmother Lady Celia Vestey (†71), who died at the end of November.
