Prince Harry recently opened up about one of his early dates with Meghan Markle! In the latest episode of Dax Shepard's podcast Armchair Expert, the Duke of Sussex revealed that the two once acted like they were strangers while they were out in public in London to try and stay under the radar.

Prince Harry reveals he avoided Meghan at a supermarket

Harry didn't mention the exact details of when this particular meetup occurred, but he did give a vague indicator of the timeline. That's because Harry and Meghan began their courtship in 2016, and Harry told Shepard the date took place "the first time Meghan and I met up for her to come and stay with me."

To avoid attracting attention, the Duke of Sussex said he and Meghan "met up in a supermarket in London, pretending we didn't know each other, so were texting each other from the other side of the aisles." He said this led to "people looking at me, giving me all these weird looks, and coming up to me and saying 'hi.'"

Prince Harry says he texted Meghan about parchment paper

Harry went on to share that one of his covert supermarket texts to Meghan had mentioned how he was looking for a particular type of paper. "I texted her saying 'is this the right one?', and she said, 'No, you want parchment paper,' and 'I'm like where's the parchment paper?,'" he told Shepard.

The Duke of Sussex mentioned that he also tried to appear as unassuming as possible during their date. "It was nice, I had a baseball cap on, looking down at the floor, trying to stay incognito," he said. While there aren't many details about the early days of the couple's relationship, it's also been said that Harry had a secret Instagram account back then, and his texts to Meghan were "full of emojis"!
