Reportedly, Prince Harry and Prince William's fractured relationship has improved considerably in recent weeks.

After countless headlines and cover stories on their complicated relationship, the sons of Prince Charles and Princess Diana left their problems behind and "reconnected" during the winter holidays, a royal source has told ET. Nonetheless, it still appears unlikely that the relationship will return to the closeness and strength once shared by the brothers.

Prince Harry & William's relationship improved over the holidays

All signs suggest that Prince Harry and Prince William set aside their differences from 2020 and reconciled during the holidays. According to a royal source, the brothers spoke on their conflict and tried to repair matters privately, even getting in touch regularly via video call.

"The relationship is much better than it was," said Katie Nicholl, a trusted royal expert. "For a start, they are on talking terms, and not only on talking terms, they do speak relatively regularly. They were very much in touch over the holidays."

Will Prince Harry and Prince William reconcile in 2021?

The holiday-season video calls between Prince Harry and Prince William are not the only step the brothers have taken toward repairing their relationship. In December, Nicholl revealed that the princes began making contact and that Harry had even sent Christmas gifts to his niece and nephews, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

Despite the small steps, commentators are still cautious about Harry and William's fractured bond, saying it will be difficult for their relationship to return to how it once was. The brothers are expected to reunite by mid-2021, possibly upon Prince Philip's 100th birthday, or during the unveiling of a Princess Diana statute scheduled for July.
