Prince Harry's recently announced decision to publish a memoir could add to the tension between him and the royal family. As Entertainment Tonight shares, it is believed that the book will further strain his fractured bonds with Prince William and Prince Charles, as opposed to helping heal them.

Prince Harry's book suggests he's not ready to "move on"

Prince Harry released a statement through Penguin Random House on Monday revealing why he chose to pen a memoir. He explained that the book will be "a firsthand account of my life that's accurate and wholly truthful," and take readers through the life lessons he has learned over the years.

However, royal expert Katie Nicholls told Entertainment Tonight that Harry's decision to release a "tell-all" book could have damaging consequences. "Harry's actions do not speak for someone who wants to move on and forge a better future with his brother and his father," she said.

Prince Harry's memoir comes as a shock to royal family

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan's decision to step back from their positions as senior royals in 2020 created a rift within the royal family. While Harry has since reunited with both his brother and his father, reports indicate that things are still tense between them— and that the announcement of his book was a shock! According to Nicholls, the rest of the royals "didn't know this announcement was coming."

She went on to say that the memoir "sets back any rift healing for some time," as it could be "explosive" like Harry and Meghan's infamous Oprah interview. She also mentioned that while the royal family are aware of the book, they now have to wait a year to learn of its contents. Time will only tell what Harry plans to reveal— and what consequences his book will have.
