Prince Harry Says Today's World Is "Pretty Depressing" For Children
Prince Harry says the world is becoming a "pretty depressing" place for children, and he's questioning if we're doing enough to address that. The comments came in his newest interview with Oprah Winfrey, where the Duke blamed social media and climate change for the condition.
Prince Harry is taking his role as a father very seriously.
In today's new interview with Oprah Winfrey, the Duke of Sussex expressed concern at the current issues facing children today. He singled out social media and global warming, problems he said have made the world a "pretty depressing" place to grow up.
Prince Harry: Why the world is "depressing" for children
Prince Harry made the comments in Friday's special episode of The Me You Can’t See with Oprah. With concern, he asked: "Are we supposed to accept that these problems are going to grow and grow and grow?"
While chatting with Winfrey and a leading mental health professional, Harry stated that climate change and social media are affecting our well-being, though we tend to ignore the roots of the issues.
"With kids growing up in today's world, it's pretty depressing, right?" he said. "Climate change is really playing a part in this as well as social media and I know lots of people out there are doing the best they can to fix these issues."
Prince Harry calls for change for future generations
The soon-to-be father of two also stressed the need for a wake-up call and open conversation, unless we want today's youth and future generations to fall deeper into the consequences of climate change and the negative sides of social media.
