Prince Harry's UK Return Could Be Delayed By Baby No. 2: Report
Prince Harry's UK homecoming will likely be delayed due to the arrival of his second child. Earlier reports had said the Duke would travel to England in June for Trooping the Colour and Prince Philip's 100th birthday. But that plan no longer appears realistic with Meghan now expecting a baby in the coming months. Here's what reports are now saying about Harry's return to the UK.
Prince Harry may not be crossing the pond so soon after all.
Today, People magazine reported that Duchess Meghan's pregnancy could delay her husband's long-awaited return to the UK. It was previously thought that Harry would travel to his homeland in June, but, instead, he's now eyeing a later date for his homecoming.
Prince Harry still planing UK return for Princess Diana statue
June was Prince Harry's initial plan so he could arrive in time to attend Trooping the Colour (the Queen's 95th birthday parade) and festivities for Prince Philip's 100th birthday, which falls on June 10. Meghan's due date isn't known yet, but early June is now appearing unrealistic for Harry to leave his growing family, according to People.
The outlet writes, "Prince Harry is determined to at least make it back to the U.K. for the long-awaited unveiling of the statue to his mother, Princess Diana, that's taking place at Kensington Palace in July," citing sources close to the Duke. However, firm plans have not yet in place, People adds.
Meghan Markle's due date for baby no. 2?
So, Prince Harry is still scheduled to join Prince William at Kensington Palace to unveil a statue of Princess Diana on July 1—which would have been her 60th birthday.
Harry and Meghan revealed their pregnancy news on Sunday, sharing a loving new picture of the expecting parents. Meghan's baby bump is showing, indicating she could already be far along in her pregnancy. But the Duke and Duchess are no doubt aware of the due date, which could fall close to June given this latest travel update.
Harry and Meghan, who became first-time parents in 2019, were "overjoyed" by the news of baby no. 2, which came just a few months after Meghan opened up about having suffered a miscarriage in the summer of 2020.
