As of 2016, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip have both been nonagenarians. Their joint public appearances have become rarer in recent years, with the Duke retiring in 2017 at the age of 96. But pre-pandemic, the Queen still represented the monarchy very regularly on the public stage.

Royal fans were treated to a portrait in 2020 on the occasion of Prince Philip's 99th birthday. It was taken at Windsor Castle, where the longtime royal couple has spent the majority of lockdown amid the pandemic. Now, the royal couple is reunited side by side as they both have passed.
